The Institution of Engineers of Sri Lanka (IESL) is the apex body of engineering professionals in the country with over 23,000 total memberships. The IESL conducted its induction and graduation ceremony recently at the BMICH Main Hall with dignity and decorum. The event was graced by Emeritus Professor Ranjith Senaratne, Chairman of the National Science Foundation as the Chief Guest. His address can be read from here (pdf,119kb).
Associate Members of the Institute who successfully completed the Professional Review procedure were elevated to the status of Chartered Engineers, a prestigious position recognized throughout the country, and 201 new Chartered Engineers were inducted on this occasion. In addition, undergraduates who successfully completed the IESL examinations received their degrees.
Following the induction and graduation ceremony, school children who excelled in the IESL’s Junior Inventor of the Year (JIY) Competition in 2022/23 were recognized and rewarded. Winners of the IESL competitions for Engineering Undergraduates (Migara Rathnatunga Trust Awards and Eng. E.W. Karunaratna Awards) were also recognized.
